25 Years Under the Umbrella

We’re celebrating our 25-year anniversary of serving clients in healthcare, MedTech and more. It’s a big number, but just one of many. We’re proud of our carefully curated crew that boasts a combined total of:

But enough about numbers, let’s get down to what we’re MOST proud of and that’s our people.

To celebrate our 25-year milestone, we’ll be featuring profiles of our team throughout the year. And what better way to begin than introducing you to the one at the helm…

Drew Hardy

You were Managing Director at UOTB before you chose to invest and become Managing Partner. How did you arrive at that decision?

In my previous lives, I’ve worked on both supply chain integration initiatives and creative marketing solutions and when I was hired as Managing Director here at Umbrellas on the Beach, I found myself really leaning into both. I had found an opportunity to shape, build and contribute to the growth of our talented team and to create purposeful, creative marketing for our healthcare clients impacting HCPs and patients — real people. People are the reason I chose to invest in this agency dedicated to the advancement of healthcare.  It’s extremely rewarding to be a part of that.

What does the experience of an agency owner working in healthcare and MedTech mean to you?

The clients we serve are focused on individuals in need of technology, therapies, nutrition, and medication that can improve and save their lives. One of the most inspiring deliverables we produce are patient testimonials. I’ve been lucky enough to be involved in these projects, and right from the beginning of the shoot – it quickly becomes personal. You visit them in their homes. You learn first-hand how much medical technology has improved their lives so they can continue making memories with their loved ones. This type of interaction and the stories shared are critically important to our overall health as human beings and our connection to society. It’s a driver in my motivation to help our healthcare clients improve the world.

As an avid marathoner, would you draw any parallels to running a small business?

After running ten full marathons, I do have a few learnings that I could apply to my personal and business life. First, mental training is the most important in preparation. Second, it’s a journey – not a sprint – so it’s important to appreciate each milestone along the way. Third, the support of others goes a long way. Every marathon I’ve ran has an interesting memory. There was the one that was my first. The one where I ate too much the night before. The one that was delayed by 2 hours because of a looming storm. What they all have in common are great memories of my family, friends and coworkers supporting me through it. They cheered for me. They made motivating signs and T-shirts. They ran alongside of me. Without their support, I don’t know if I could ever be as successful at anything including running marathons or a business.
